## The three-year boom in storage chip terminal price age: a full price hike in home-grown mobile phones.
In March 2026, China’s mobile phone industry reached a historic turning point. Vivo, OPPO, announced successive price increases, and the era of DRAM contract prices officially ended. For example, in the case of the mainstream 12GB+256GB storage module, costs jumped from about $30 in the low valley to $120, and the cost of single storage increased by more than $600. The share of stored chips in whole-body material costs climbed from 10-15% to 30-40%, with some 1,000 units reaching nearly 50%. [User change cycles continue to increase.] In contrast to higher prices, it is the rationalization of user consumption behaviour. This trend is in a vicious circle: price hikes have led to a delay in the change of power, and sales decline has led manufacturers to increase their profits further, and users to see more. IDC predicts that China’s smartphone exports in 2026 are expected to be approximately 278 million, a 2.2% decline in the same year, and that the second-hand mobile phone market has erupted, with 100 million, or 20%, of the projected market size in 20-26. Counterpoint data show that the share of national producers in ultra-high-end markets over $6,000 in 2025 has reached 47 per cent, an increase of 29 percentage points from 2023; apple shares have fallen from 82 per cent to 51 per cent. The average price of domestic mobile phones has risen from $2685 to nearly $4,000 five years ago. [In the future, the industry faces double torture.] Behind the price boom are two central issues: first, whether product and brand power support higher pricing? High pricing will be lost in the absence of core technical barriers and systemic innovation; and, second, how will the portal basics be solid after a shrinking market?
