## UK Financial Regulator Picks Revolut for Stablecoin Sandbox Program
The UK is getting serious about stablecoins, and some big names just got the green light to experiment. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) just announced four companies for their stablecoin regulatory sandbox: Revolut (the neobank unicorn), Monee Financial Technologies, ReStabilise, and VVTX. These firms will get to test stablecoin products in the real world without worrying about regulatory penalties. The focus is on stablecoin issuance. Why does this matter? Because the UK is finalizing its stablecoin rules later this year, and the results from this sandbox will directly shape those regulations. The FCA received 20 applications and picked these four. Each represents different use cases - payments, wholesale settlement, and crypto trading. This is especially interesting for Revolut. We have previously reported they are considering launching their own stablecoin. Prediction markets currently put the odds at 34% that they will announce a stablecoin before July. The UK is trying to keep pace with the US, which passed the GENIUS Act last summer. Both countries announced a joint crypto regulatory task force in September - the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future. That taskforce is expected to release findings this summer, aiming to reduce barriers between US and UK crypto markets. Not gonna lie, this is actually a pretty smart approach from the FCA. Let companies test first, then write rules based on real-world data instead of guessing what might work.
